Healthy Summer Eating Tips During the summer months, your normal routine is probably not quite as on track as it is during the rest of the year. Everyone is on different sleep schedules (including bedtimes and wake-up times), and each person in the household might even be on a different work/personal schedule. However, one thing can stay on track no matter what during the summer—your eating habits. For instance, maintain a meal and snack schedule for not only kids, but the adults in your family, too. If needed, try to bring along healthy snacks like a bag of almonds, some fruit or air-popped popcorn. That way, when you get hungry during the day while you’re out running errands, you don’t have to stop by a fast food drive-through. Your healthy snack is right there with you. If you’re like most Americans, you don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables. Summer is the perfect time to change that! There are a plethora of fruits and veggies in season during the summer, meaning you have a variety of delicious treats to choose from. Finally, don’t forget to include water in your diet! Hydration is especially important during the summer, when we sweat more because of the heat. Whenever possible, skip caffeinated and alcoholic beverages. Instead, sip on water continuously throughout the day. If you wait until you’re thirsty, you could already be dehydrated. Not feeling at your best this summer?
