Dreaming of Having Energy This Christmas Between holiday shopping and school festivities, you can easily find yourself feeling worn down well before Christmas. Let’s take a look at some ways to find your energy again, just in time for the holiday! First, get a good night’s sleep each and every night! While you might think you can function on just five to six hours of sleep, it is recommended that most adults get at least seven to nine hours of sleep each night in order to function at their best during the day. If you’re having trouble relaxing at night, take steps to prepare your body for rest, by turning off electronics an hour or two before bed and avoiding caffeine in the hours before bedtime. Second, you want to be sure you are fueling your body properly with what you eat. Are you snacking smart? Or are you feeding yourself foods that are taking your energy away, such as bagels, specialty coffee drinks, and muffins? Don’t be the cause of your own energy going out the door! Instead, snack on foods that help give you energy to conquer the day, like apples and almonds. Finally, if you need caffeine to make it through the day, choose to get your caffeine from tea, which is one of the best ways to boost energy. Caffeinated sodas and flavored coffee drinks are often packed with empty calories you don’t need, especially if you want to visit the dessert table at your next holiday gathering.
